The hydraulic tensioner automatically maintains correct timing belt tension throughout the belt's service life. A failed tensioner causes belt slack, timing deviation, and can lead to catastrophic engine damage. Always replace the tensioner together with the timing belt and idler pulleys for a complete, reliable repair.

Replacement Interval

Replace at every timing belt service — every 100,000 km. Never reuse a tensioner with a new belt.
