Timing Belt for the 1HD-FT & 1HD-FTE engines — Toyota Land Cruiser 80 Series & 100 Series (1994–2007).

The timing belt synchronises the crankshaft and camshaft to maintain precise valve timing on the 1HD inline-6 turbo diesel. A broken timing belt causes catastrophic engine damage — bent valves and potential piston contact. Do not exceed the replacement interval.

When servicing the timing belt, always replace the hydraulic tensioner, idler pulleys, water pump, thermostat, and front crankshaft and camshaft seals at the same time to avoid repeat labour costs and prevent oil contamination of the new belt.

Replacement Interval

Replace every 100,000 km (factory specifies up to 120,000 km — use the lower interval for peace of mind, especially under heavy load or high-heat conditions). Do not reuse a timing belt.
